If you’ve ever struggled with chronic pain, you know. You know what it’s like to not function well. You know what it’s like to be tired all the time. You know what it’s like to constantly try to fix yourself.
That was me.
I was diagnosed with endometriosis in my late 20s. I was told there was no cure and I’d just have to live with it. I struggled for years. I was in pain all the time. Luckily around the same time I decided I needed to change my career. At this point the last thing I wanted was to be unhappy and stressed everyday at my job. So I got my 200- hour yoga teacher certification and went back to school for nutrition. You see, I’ve always been passionate about healthy living. While attending the Institute for Integrative Nutrition I began applying the principles I had learned and within a month almost all of my pain was gone, including my hypoglycemia and anxiety. It was life changing. I’d never felt this good. And that’s when I knew. Being a nutrition coach was my calling.
I adopted a whole food nutrient dense diet and never looked back. I’m not saying food can cure everything but it drastically changed the quality of my life. And it happened fast. No woman should have to live with the pain I lived with.
Today endometriosis affects 176 million women worldwide, and 1 in 10 girls and women in the US. It affects girls and women during their most productive years, and can impact all aspects of their lives – school, careers, finances, relationships, and overall well-being. Researchers suspect the cause is a combination of genetic and environmental factors but all agree that diet and lifestyle choices are major factors and changing them can help control pain and other symptoms.
